HID Hut is happy to offer you our specially designed 400W HPS/MH 120/240V automatically switchable ballast. It automatically senses the bulb type- and reduces the output voltage for Metal Halide bulbs to extend MH bulb life.

Compared to magnetic ballasts our digital ballast offer up to a 30% savings in power, and up to 7% increase in light output. They have a fast start up time, run much cooler, and are silent in operation.

Electronic circuitry enables many safety features. 1. Automatically detects bulb type, and powers bulb accordingly. 2. If there is an open circuit (bad bulb, unscrewed bulb, faulty wire...), the ballast will turn off. 3. If bulb turns off, the ballast will only attempt to igninte for 2 seconds once every 10 minutes until the bulb strikes, rather than supplying continuously high voltage to a bulb that is off. This greatly extends the life of bulbs. 4. Bulb power is steadily increased as bulb brightens, and at maximum brightness power output is continuous. This soft start and continuous power output also extend the life of your bulb.

The ballasts are FCC tested and certified to produce NO RF interference, eliminating the need for shielded cables. They are CE certified for safety, using all UL certified components. The ballasts are silicone sealed inside for longevity and protection (water resistant). They are wired for 120V or 240V- however all ballasts come with 3 pronged, 120V plug. The case is aluminum with cooling fins, and is compact measuring 2.75" tall, 8.5" long and 4" wide. The power cable is 5’ long, and the cable to the reflector is 13’ long. This ballast is ready to go- no additional parts necessary (and never any parts to service). Just plug the ballast into your reflector with a bulb, plug the ballast in and it will turn on. (Mogul Base is not included).
